Overview
Articles are shared by default in Web Engine. It was built this way, as the flow of information between entities within the church helps to keep everyone informed on events around the world.
If an entity desires, they can disable the sharing of their articles. This can be done at the article level, so only individual articles are disabled from being shared. Sharing can be configured at the entity level, inside the article module settings. The second case will block all articles from being shared by default.

Configure article sharing for the article
To configure the individual article sharing, navigate into the article module. Navigate to the list of articles for the entity. Do this by clicking on the Articles module, or depending on rights, click on Manage articles.
In the list of articles for the entity, locate the article to adjust the sharing on, and then click on the article title. This opens the article for editing. Next click on the Share tab for the article.
Follow these steps on the Share tab:
- Sharing status:
- Inherited from entity (Shared): Default.
- Shared: Force the sharing of the article, if the entity is not sharing by default.
- Not shared: The article will not be shared.
- Disable translations:
- Set checkmark if no one else should be able translate.
- Click the Save button after any updates are made
Configure article sharing for the entity
The sharing of entity articles can be configured at the entity level. This is done under the Articles settings.
- Expand the Articles module, click on Articles settings. The following tabs appear:
- Fields: Adjust available fields of the article or adjust fields later if needed.
- Workflow: See article on setting up article workflow, link below.
- Share:
- Unless required not to share, don't make any changes. Everything is shared by default.
- Disable syndication: Disable publishing articles from other entities on websites of this entity.
- Disable sharing: Don't share your articles with other entities. A checkmark opens the next point.
- Prevent individual sharing: Blocks even sharing of individual articles.
- Disable translation of shared articles: prevent other entities from translating your articles
- Click the Save button if changes are made.
